Lustig, one of the most influential graphic designers of his time, began work in Los Angeles during the 1940s and 1950s; a versatile designer, Lustig he designed a few buildings and some furniture for the Paramount Furniture Company in Los Angeles; he developed a signature Modern approach to layout, seen in such stark designs as those for Meridian paperback book covers of the early 1950s; becoming a much-sought-after designer, Lustig re-established himself in New York, where he died from complications of diabetes in 1955;
