Principal, Blaine Drake, Architect, Phoenix, AZ, 1945-1985. Blaine Drake lived and worked at this residence at 5210 North 22nd Street in Phoenix. This house was erected in 1951 and contained 1,886 square feet in 2018.

The Arizona State University Library, Special Collections has Drake's archives, and it said of his career: "Architect Blaine Drake (1911-1993) was one of Frank Lloyd Wright's original apprentices at Taliesin, Wisconsin, in 1933, and went on to establish his Arizona practice in 1945. He designed approximately two hundred projects during his long career, nearly two-thirds of which were built. Most of his work was in the Phoenix area and focused on residential architecture, though he also designed office, medical, and apartment buildings and churches. One of the few Wright apprentices to pursue a successful independent practice, Drake was an advocate of energy-efficient design in the desert." Relocation

Drake lived with his family at 2653 Keisel Avenue in Ogden, in 1930. The 1930 US Census listed the following people in the Drake Family as living here: John H., Alice, J. Earl, Blaine E., Paul R., and Virginia. They paid $20 per month for their house, a low cost by 1930 standards. Parents

His father was John Henry Drake (born 01/25/1885 in Wilson, UT-d. 02/20/1944 in San Francisco, CA), his mother, Alice Maw (born 10/08/1885 in Gibbonsville, ID-d. 01/17/1941 in Ogden, UT). In 1930, John Drake worked as house painter and wallpaper hanger. Alice managed the household. Son, J. Earl, worked as a service station attendant. John and Alice married on 08/23/1906 in Brigham City, UT and had four children: John Earl (born 09/19/1909 in Plain City, UT-d. 02/03/1989 in Ogden, UT), Blaine, Paul Robert (born 02/24/1913 in Ogden, UT-d. 08/19/2002 in Napa, CA), and Virginia Drake Bonner (born 09/26/1915 in Wilson, UT-d. 02/02/1962 in Orem, UT).

Alice's parents were Robert Edward and Victorine Maw.
