Paul Wesley Sandstrom was a native of Spokane, WA, where he was born on 08/08/1924, the son of Helmer and Agnes Sandstrom. He was baptized in the Salem Lutheran Church on 11/30/1924. He served in the US Army during the Second World War, from 1942 through 1946. After wartime service he matriculated at Washington State College, graduating in 1950.

In 1955, Sandstrom worked for architect Henry C. Bertelsen in Spokane, WA, and lived at West 1403 Mission Avenue in Spokane. (See Spokane, Washington, City Directory, 1955, p. 750.) The Sandstroms left Spokane for CA in either late 1955 or early 1956.

Sandstrom nade his way to Palo Alto, CA, by 1956, where he gained employment in the architectural offfice of Clark and Stromquist. He remained in their employ through various partnership permutations, when, in 1970, he became a partner himself. The architect passed away in Gilroy, CA, on 04/17/2018 at the age of 93. He was buried in the Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto, CA.
