New director Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886–1969) moved the school to a vacant telephone factory in Berlin, lasting until 07/19/1933, when Mies and the school's faculty, voted to close it following a Gestapo raid looking for a "subversive" printing press on 04/11/1933.
