Moisseiff was the designer of the ill-fated first Tacoma Narrows Bridge, that failed 11/7/1940, and consulted with Chief Engineer, Joseph Strauss, on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge; while with the New York City Bridge Department, he also designed the still-standing Manhattan Bridge, New York, NY;


Born in Latvia, Moisseiff came to New York, NY in 1891 at age 19;
