His father was Aage James Aagaard, Sr., (born 10/11/1910 in Elk Horn, IA-d. 09/22/1987 in Los Angeles County, CA). His parents were Henry A. Aagaard and Clara Jorgina Aagaard. Early in Aage James Aagaard Sr.'s professional life, c. 1928-1930, he worked as a carpenter. By 1940, he worked as a salesman for the National Life And Accident Insurance Company in Los Angeles. He served in the US Army between 12/08/1942 and 04/04/1944, and was back at work in the insurance business by 1944.

Aage J. Aagaard, Sr., married Elizabeth Ingeborg Brown (b. 07/30/1915 in Indianapolis, IN-d. 06/28/2001 in Atascadero, CA) on 08/08/1939. She worked as a nurse at the Los Angeles County Hospital between at least 1940 and 1944. Elizabeth's parents were Niels Celvis Brown and Anna Simonson.

Both parents were buried at the Atascadero Pine Mountain Cemetery, Atascadero, CA.
