Johnson came California from Ohio in 1907 to attend Pomona College, Pomona, CA; he had further art training at the Art Students League in New York, NY, around 1920; Johnson had a heart attack while at work on the Fine Arts Building in 1926, and died a year later; Johnson did sculptures on the second floor balconies of the Walker and Eisen building.
