Andrea James of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer indicated that, despite a bad economic climate, a Hard Rock Cafe would open a two-floor restaurant and music venue at 116 Pike Street, a block away from the Pike Place Market. "A 2004 economic impact study found that Seattle's music industry generated more than $1.3 billion in annual revenue in the area, supporting more than 2,600 businesses and nearly 8,700 jobs, according to the Mayor's Office."
