"Street scene depicting pedestrians, horse and carriage, and the Spaulding's home. As well as being proprietor of the Almota House, Spaulding was pastor of a church; the school superintendent of Linn county, OR, in 1849-50; territorial commissioner of common schools for Oregon in 1850-55; one of the first trustees of Whitman Seminary, now Whitman College, at Walla Walla, in 1859; and was United States Indian agent from 1850-1853."
