Shimazu worked with the Tetra Design, Incorporated, between 2003 and 2009 and with the Tetra-IBI Design Group between 2003 and 2022. It was known by some sources as "Tetra - IBI Group Architects, Planners," and others as "IBI Group, Architects, Planners." Kirk Shimazu founded ShimazuStudio in 04/2022.
