Active 1981-

Firm Notes

In 1981, the firm began operations in New York, NY, as "Attia and Perkins", a partnership between architects Eli Attia (born 1936) and Bradford Perkins. Perkins bought out Attia's interest in 1983, to form "Bradford Perkins and Associates," a firm which lasted two years. Perkins elevated two architects--Barbara Geddis and Mary-Jean Eastman--to partnership status, creating "Perkins Geddis Eastman" that existed between 1985 and 1990. Barbara Geddis left the partnership in 1991, and was renamed "Perkins Eastman" at that time. Perkins Eastman bought three other architectural offices: Quick Ledewitz Architects, PC, in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1994; Sherwood, Mills and Smith (aka SMS Partnership) founded in Stamford, CT, in 1946 (later moving to New Canaan, CT, in 1972) in 1998; and Susan Black and Associates, Incorporated, of Seattle, WA, in 1999. Black moved to Toronto, Canada, to manage a new entity, "Perkins Eastman Black, Architects," in that city. (See Perkins Eastman.com, "Our Legacy," accessed 07/24/2025.)

Pfeiffer Partners Architects of Los Angeles, CA, and New York, NY, combined with Perkins Eastman in 03/2021, to create "Pfeiffer—a Perkins Eastman studio."

In 02/2022, Perkins Eastman merged with Bower Lewis Thrower/Architects (BLT Architects) of Philadelphia, PA, the office becoming a subsidiary of Perkins Eastman known as "BLTa—A Perkins Eastman Studio."
