Sam Zell partnered with Robert H. Lurie to create the Equity Group Investments, LLC, in 1968. Equity Office Properties Trust, a subsidiary of Equity Group Investments, LLC, operated from a headquarters in Chicago, IL. Timothy Callahan was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Equity Office Properties Trust in 1999. At this time, Equity Office Properties was the largest owner of office buildings in Bellevue, WA. Blackstone Group of New York, NY, bought Equity Office Properties in 2007, just before the real estate market plummeted. Blackstone sold off Equity Office Properties rapidly in 2007 and 2008.
