Firm Notes

SERA Architects, Incorporated, was founded in Portland, OR. Its origins began with the Office of George C. Sheldon, Charles Colburn and Kenneth Kaji, established in 1969. It became known as "SES" in the 1970s, and renamed "SERA Architects" in the 1980s. The SERA name was an acronym for the firm's partners, including Bing Sheldon and Don Eggleston. Eggleston joined with Sheldon to design a student union addition at the University of Oregon (U of O) in Eugene, OR, in 1971. SERA Architects opened a second office in San Mateo, CA, in 2015.

The firm's web site indicated how its focus grew over the years: "Over the years, our story has been marked by key additions to the SERA team who brought new abilities to the collaborative whole and thus enabled SERA to provide additional services to the marketplace.
