The brothers, Douglas, Gregory and Jeffrey Bernards founded Bernards Brothers, Incorporated, in 1974, focusing their work on the fast-growing Southern CA construction market. As of 02/07/2014, Douglas Bernard served as the CEO of Bernards, the firm that he co-founded in 1974 with his brothers Jeffery G. and Gregory; at this time, he gave the duties of president to his brother, Jeff, and made former Executive Vice-President Greg Simons the new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Steve Pellegren, previously the Vice President of Preconstruction, became Executive Vice President, taking Simons former role.
