Lawyer Stephanie Dorgan opened the night club in 1991, during the heyday of the Seattle "grunge" scene. It remained a favorite of local bands but closed in 12/2007 due to ever-tightening restrictions placed on night clubs by Mayor Greg Nickels and the City of Seattle. At one time, Dorgan was married to the R.E.M. guitarist, Peter Buck, who at one time was a co-owner of the Crocodile Cafe. Marcus and Sheila Charles re-applied for a liquor license for the Crocodile Cafe on 07/08/2008, with the aim of re-opening the venue.

Tel: 206.441.5611 (2007). Its last show occurred 12/15/2007 and featured performers David Bazan and Robin Pecknold.
