The Los Angeles and San Pedro Railroad was located on the southwest corner of Alameda and Commercial Streets.

This railroad was the first in Southern California, and was financed by Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles. The line cost $225,000 to build, with the money raised from $150,000 in county bonds and $75,000 in city bonds. It began to link Los Angeles and the port town of San Pedro in 10/1869. In reality, the railroad physically linked Los Angeles with San Pedro's neighbor, Wilmington, CA. The line was later bought by the Southern Pacific Railroad.
