This streetcar line, Seattle's first modern streetcar operation, would run south on Westlake Avenue North and north on Terry Avenue North and make a loop to the northeast on Fairview Avenue North.

This streetcar route (each way) connects South Lake Union, the new waterfront park, the Denny Triangle and the Downtown Retail Core/Westlake Center. Emphasis was on allowing workers in the new biotechnology and other office buildings in South Lake Union the opportunity to get downtown without taking their automobiles. The total budget in 2006 was $50.5 million. Planner estimated ridership in the first year to be 330,000, increasing to one million yearly over time.

This line, designed to serve users in offices on South Lake Union, was the City of Seattle's first modern streetcar service. Ground was broken for it 07/07/2006.
