This restaurant, owned in 2007 by Larry Mellum and Ron Hanlon, were faced with eviction, when the landlord, Strickland Corporation, sought to use the property for a 13,600 square-foot Petco store. Petco already had a store in West Seattle, built in 1987, but sought another location after its parking lot was sold at its old location.
This cafe could seat 125 patrons, and served 4,000 diners per week. When confronted with the possibility of its demolition, 6,000 diners signed a petition (by 07/02/2007), asking the landlord to spare the cafe.
