Building History

State Senator Enoch H. Pardee (1829-1896) commissioned the construction of this grand Italianate residence, completed in 1868. His son, George C. Pardee, (1857-1941), who was California's governor during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, also resided here, as did his daughters, Madeline Anna Pardee (1889-1980) and Helen P. Pardee (1895-1981).

The building is now a museum.
