Danish immigrant, Julius H. Petersen, started the Arcadia Resort on the North Shore of Lake Crescent c. 1920. Petersen was born in 1874, had migrated to the U.S. by 1893, and lived at Lake Crescent by 1906. His resort was operated in the early 1950s by John A. Foss. The Arcadia Resort shut down by the late 1950s.
