Avery J. Singer and his wife, Julia, built their 2.5 story Singer's Lake Crescent Tavern between 1914-1916. The main building was framed in wood, covered by a gable roof and featured a large lobby with rustic stone hearth; its first floor was lined with a covered porch facing the lake. At the same time the hotel was erected, a line of timber cottages and canvas shelters were also built.
An early dining room was later renovated into a gift shop. The long open front porch was enclosed at a later time.
