This was the first of nine similar fire stations built by the City of Seattle between 1894-1908; they all had cubic forms, dressed in Colonial Revival Style ornamentation. This station was in use from 1894 until c. 1931. A third station for Engine Company #6 was built on the same site in 1931-1932 and still existed in 2007.
