This station opened 03/1896, a two-story wood-frame structure. Engine Company #9 became Company #7 in 1900. This was the second station designed along similar cubic lines built in the city between 1894-1908. (In its early days, the City of Seattle often re-used architectural plans to save money.) The first was the second station for Engine Company #6 at 23rd Avenue South and Yesler Way built in 1894.
