Albert Held designed the first building housing North Central High School, 1907-1908. It opened (half-completed) in 09/1908 for 200 students.

A 60 foot x 21 foot swimming pool costing $40,000 was added in the 1910s; due to lack of maintenance funds, it was closed from 1919-1932; it reopened between 1932-1979.
