Sosio Manzo (03/20/1892-11/1973), an immigrant from Southern Italy, began selling produce at the Pike Place Market in 1909; his children and grandchildren have continued this business to the present. In the 1950s-1960s, The Manzos developed a friendly rivalry with a neighboring Japanese-American stall owner, Shun Iwasaki (12/13/1905-01/17/2001), over the display of their fruits and vegetables.
