Alteration
Los Angeles Modern architect Rudolph Schindler remodeled this medical building for A. Garland in 1936-1937. Schindler added a new section to the existing buillding to the north closest to Sunset Boulevard. This small clinic contained about 12 consultation rooms, offices, restrooms and labs in each wing. A narrow driveway on the building's east side led cars to a parking area to the south. The building had a blocky, geometric appearance, highly abstract, with the Sunset facing wall having an expansive glass block window to illuminate it.
Demolition
Schindler's radical Sunset Medical Clinic was razed. In 2017, contemporary but highly remodeled buildings flanked the vacant lot at 6642 Sunset Boulevard.
