This house, influenced by the architecture of the Spanish Missions and local Mexican haciendas, was built by the printer, Clyde Browne. Browne worked as a printer for Occidental College in nearby Eagle Rock and also worked for Henry Huntington's Library in San Marino. Browne was active in the local Arts and Crafts community, developing a small slaon of sorts at his residence.
