A bond issue passed in 1967 paid for the establishment of the Evergreen Hospital Medical Center. At first, Evergreen Hospital consisted of a relatively small three-story building. Subsequent King County bond issues enabled the completion of the initial third floor, the addition of a fourth, the creation of a MedicOne Base, and the development of a hospice.

A bond issue in 2004 funded the creation of a new Emergency Department with 28 acute-care rooms, four trauma rooms and attached diagnostic facilities. The new wing was also set to accommodate 192 beds; 42 new beds were assigned for emergency room patients (with 10 "fast track" beds), 32 beds for medical and oncology patients, 32 for orthopedic, neurology and spinal patients, amd 32 for general surgical, GI, and bariatrics patients. It opened in 04/2007; open houses for the Emergency Department occurred 04/27/2007 and 04/28/2007.
