When it first opened, the Historic University Theater (HUT) was a movie theater. From the late 1980s up until 2000, the building was closed. In 1998, the HUT was purchased and renovated, and re-opened as an all-ages music venue called The Paradox in 2000. In 2003, when The Paradox shut down, an improv troupe called Wing-It Productions took it over, and continues to perform in the space.
