Swedish-born John W. Nordstrom (02/15/1871 - 10/11/1963) erected this house where he lived from 1916-1963. Nordstrom co-founded the Wallin and Nordstrom Shoe Store with partner, Carl Wallin in 1901. This shoe store developed into the Nordstrom Department Store chain.

Alterations were made by John Nordstrom in 1918 and 1922.
