Overview
The noted University of Washington Professor of Architecture Lionel H. Pries erected this house just after World War II and resided in it for over 20 years. He filled the house with antiques, particularly those from Asia, that he acquired during his periodic travels. The house was also a significant place for social interaction within the School of Architecture during the 1940s and 1950s.
Building History
This unusual house was the residence of the important University of Washington Professor of Architecture, Lionel H. Pries (1897-1968). Pries hosted many parties at his house, exposing students to his collections of Asian and Mexican handicrafts.
