An article on country houses in the 10/1920 issue of Architectural Record noted that the Santa Barbara, CA, architect George Washington Smith, designed a farm gate for Mrs. Mary E. Stewart. (See William Lawrence Bottomley, "The American Country House," Architectural Record, XLVIII: 4, 10/1920, p. 261.) This article indicated that the Stewart House was located in Santa Barbara, CA.
