Building History
Owner of the Blue Mouse Theatre chain, John Hamrick (1876-1956), was the first Seattle exhibitor to install Vitaphone motion picture sound equipment on 03/18/1927. Hamrick owned other Blue Mouse Theatres in Portland, OR, Tacoma, WA, and Spokane, WA. In 1941, there were 44 movie theatres in Seattle, 18 of which were located Downtown, 26 in the outlying neighborhoods.
Demolition
The Blue Mouse was torn down in 1971 to make way for the new People's Bank Headquarters Building. The Hotel Georgian, the old People's Bank Building and the Italian Village Restaurant were also razed.
