SBC Development Company planned to make the Yakima Valley a parallel to Palm Springs in California, a resort within easy access of a major metropolitan area. They planned the construction of a community of second and retirement homes set on a 500-acre site. It was to cost $70 million. This "Tuscan-themed development" would have a condos and townhouses, 230 single-family dwelling sites, and a de rigeur golf course. Four developers, Dan L. Fitchett, Jr. and Richard B.
