Father Bernardino J. Schiaparelli said the first mass in the new church on 12/24/1930, and its formal dedication occurred about three months later, 03/15/1931. This church replaced a small wooden structure that served the parish from c. 1865-1925.

The Depression caused a drop in funds available to finish the church and the interior was not fully decorated according to original plans.
