Structure Type: built works - public buildings - schools

Designers: [unspecified]

Dates: [unspecified]

This school was originally known as the Ballard School, and was renamed c. 1901 as the "Broadway School," as it was located on what was then called Broadway (later renamed Market Street). Ballard ceased to be an independent city in 1907, when it was annexed into Seattle.

This school was closed in 12/1909 and replaced by the Adams School #1. In 1912-1916, the building was altered to serve as a gymnasium for the nearby Ballard High School. The City of Seattle sold the property in 1924 to the Swedish-Finnish fraternal group, Vasa, which operated its clubhouse there until 1938. (The organization was named for Gustav Vasa, the 15th century monarch, who served as the first king of modern Sweden.)

Demolished in 1938 or 1939 and replaced by a Texaco gas station.
