Building History

Designed by architect, Julia Morgan (1872-1957), this First Generation Bay Area Style building, the Berkeley Women's City Club, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, level of significance: Local. The building is a mixed Romanesque and Gothic design.

It functioned as a women's club between 1930 and 1963. Men were allowed to join in 1963, and it was renamed the "Berkeley City Club." (See Berkeley City Club.org, "Our History," accessed 09/04/2025.)
