The American Architect Directory 1956 (New York: R.R. Bowker, 1955) p. 13 and American Architect Directory 1962 ((New York: R.R. Bowker, 1962) p. 17, both indicated that there was a John B. Anthony working in Oakland, CA, whose birth dates was 12/17/1896, while the California Death Index indicated that his birth date was 12/17/1891.

Joseph William Harris, (1897-1978) was the owner of the locally well-known House of Harris clothing stores in Berkeley and Modesto. Raised in New York, he favored Streamlined Moderne styling for the designs of his own house and commercial properties. Harris began his career as a clothing retailer in Berkeley in 1923.
