Asmundson Hall honored Vigfus S. Asmundson (1895-1974), a native Icelander, and an important researcher in the field of poultry genetics. He spent much of his career studying disease in turkeys. His son, Vigfus A. Asmundson (1937-2003), became a prominent lawyer and politician in the City of Davis, serving on the Davis City Council (1968-1972) and as mayor (1970-1972).
