Owned by hotelier Brad Korzen of Chicago; interior design by Kelly Wearstler, who also designed Maison 140 in Beverly Hills for Korzen; Wearstler and Korzen are husband-and-wife. In 2009, the hotel had 86 units.

The Avalon Hotel was a combination of three existing buildings, the Olympic Building (1949), the Beverly Building (1953), and the Canon Building (1962). Interior designer, Kelly Wearstler, whose husband is the hotel's owner, Brad Korzen, renovated the Avalon in 1999.
