Structure Type: built works - dwellings - houses
Designers: Howe and Lescaze, Architects (firm); George Howe (architect); William Edmond Lescaze (architect)
Dates: constructed 1928-1929
Howe and Lescaze designed this radical house to have a steel frame clad with concrete walls, the north and east of which were painted white, the south and west light blue. The sash was given a dark blue cast. The building has various elements--roof garden, volumetric cubic forms, and streamlined, curved features--reflective of the architects' study of recent precedents in Holland, France and Germany.
