This shopping center was one of the earliest shopping centers built in the U.S., serving South Los Angeles, CA; this early automobile-oriented facility, opened at about the same time as the North Shore Center in Beverly, MA, (1947), and the slightly later Town and Country Shopping Center (1949) outside of Columbus, OH. One of the earliest was the Country Club Plaza of 1922 in Kansas City, MO.
