Building History
The Tooley Company financed the erection of this 16-story, 225,000 square foot building (with 213,000 rentable square feet). Composed of a vertically stretched cube, the office tower at 800 Wilshire Boulevard had a reinforced concrete frame exposed on the first floor and around its entire contours. One facade had a roofline notched in an L-shape. It was faced in reflective glass panels, a favorite sheathing material in Los Angeles during the 1970s-1980s. The Ratkovich Company bought it in 2004, paying less than $135.00 per square foot, but sold it to its institutional partner, the real estate investment trust, Prudential Real Estate Investors, for more than $300 per square foot in 2008.
