Dominican officials blessed the opening of this church on 06/29/1873. It was located on the corner of Bush and Steiner Streets, on a parcel of land (bounded by Steiner, Bush, Pierce and Pine Streets) purchased by the order in 1863.

This first church was used as the Parish House after 1883;

Demolished; presumably, this structure (like the second Saint Dominic's Church) also perished in the Earthquake and Fire of 04/18-19/1906.
