Overview

Noted Los Angeles architect Leland Bryant designed this flamboyant Spanish Colonial Revival apartment block in 1927-1928. It was sited across Fountain Avenue to the north of Bryant's Chateauesque Les Maisonette Apartments, completed in 1927.

Building Notes

The Romanesque Villa Apartments comprised one contributing building within the National Register of Historic Place's North Harper Avenue Historic District in West Hollywood, CA.

This 12-unit apartment building contained 26 bedrooms and 22 baths and occupied a 8,784-square-foot lot in 2020.

According to Variety reporter Whitney Friedlander, Hollywood stars Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962), Zsa Zsa Gabor and Marlene Dietrich, all lived in the Romanesque Villa, at one time or another.
