This manufacturing plant, part of the famed Lockheed "Skunk Works," production facility, was built to produce the Shooting Star XP-80 Fighter, the first jet fighter aircraft in the U.S. Army Air Force. (The XP-80 was also the first American plane to clock speeds of over 500 miles per hour.) Later, this manufacturing space was utilized by the General Panel Corporation as its production center in Burbank, CA.
