Paramount Pictures and its antecedent companies have existed on Melrose Avenue since approximately 1914; in 1916, Zukor merged his company with Jesse L. Lasky's (1880-1958) Lasky Feature Show Company film studio and William W. Hodkinson's (1881-1971) Paramount Pictures, the first national film distribution company, to create Famous Players-Lasky Corporation.
