Placed on the top of a foothill in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Pearce house had a concrete-block construction, with steel beams supporting the roof and a flamboyant cantilevered eaves over the carport. The house was constructed of three rectilinear boxes, two of which--the master bedroom and the living dining area--connected by a series of arced wall forms. Honduran mahogany covered interior surfaces and contrasted notably with the rough texture and neutral color of the concrete block walls.
