Occidental College's web site on the history of campus buildings stated of Johnson Hall: "Johnson Hall is the gift of Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Johnson, generous benefactors of the College. The interior was remodeled with grants provided by The Ahmanson Foundation and The James Irvine Foundation. Located in Johnson Hall are Alumni Auditorium, seating one hundred and forty-five, classrooms, the Audiovisual department, faculty offices, and the Language Laboratory. Also in Johnson Hall are the Chinese, Cognitive Science, Diplomacy and World Affairs, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Linguistics, Philosophy, Russian, and Spanish department offices.
