In 1929, the Elks Club wished to cut a new door through an existing wall for convenience. Unfortunately, the cut was made through a reinforced-concrete girder supporting the structure. Collapse was averted by quick engineering efforts, but the cost of the door came to an astronomical $10,000.

Demolished; the Wells Fargo Tower stands on grounds once occupied by the Elks Club Lodge #99.
